Storm Debris and Yard Waste Collection

The recent storm's impact has left many homes with large amounts of yard waste, including trees, limbs, and other debris. The City of Hickory Solid Waste Division will be collecting yard waste as early as possible. Please place yard waste to the curb and leave it there until it can be collected. As a reminder, the following instructions should be followed:

  1. Place yard waste in the open. Do not place it under low hanging power lines, branches, near parked vehicles, or in front of storm drains.
  2. Do not stack yard waste in the street.
  3. Cut and stack neatly; major limbs should be cut away from the trunk and into pieces less than six feet in length.
  4. Please lay all branches in a neat, uniform manner with the butt end towards the curb.
  5. Loose leaves, small clippings, and twigs need to be placed in clear plastic bags or 32 gallon cans with the lid removed for pick up.

The City appreciates everyone's patience and cooperation as regular garbage, recycling, and yard waste services may be delayed due to storm debris and clean up.
