National Volunteer Week Named in Catawba County

On April 16th the Catawba County Board of Commissioners signed a proclamation for National Volunteer Week, April 15 - 21, 2018. The Commissioners urged our citizens to observe this period by considering how they can devote a portion of their lives each week to people in need, or to an important cause or group. By both volunteering and recognizing those who serve, we can come together to make a difference. The proclamation was signed by C. Randall Isenhower, Chair of the Catawba County Board of Commissioners. Representatives from numerous non- profit organizations attended the meeting in support of the Proclamation for National Volunteer Week.

Catawba County Chamber of Commerce has several special events planned to thank and recognize our volunteer leaders and encourage our non-profit partners to follow suit and do the same. In addition, in order to gauge the significant impact volunteer leaders have on our community, leaders were asked to share the number of hours individuals donated to their organization in 2017. The results are quite staggering, see the volunteer hours. The hours for chamber volunteers will be announced to the Board of Directors at their meeting on April 18th.
