Hickory Police Department to Host Community Discussion on Homelessness

HPD will host a community forum discussion on homelessness, the effects, and possible community strategies that can be implemented to address some of the issues through a collaborative community effort. The discussion will be held in Grace Chapel on the Lenoir-Rhyne University campus on Monday, March 5th from 2:00 to 5:00pm. All community stake holders and media are invited to be part of the discussion with the goal being to get accurate information to the public on the real facts about homelessness in Hickory, the services that exist and ways to address the issue in a productive way without encouraging panhandling, urban camping or other things that are detrimental to our community or those in need.

Thank you,
Thurman Whisnant
Chief of Police
