Bike Trails Reopen to the Public

After weeks of extensive cleanup, the bike trail system at Rotary-Geitner Park, including the beginner mountain bike trail, pump track, and the paved bikeway connecting Hickory City Park to Rotary-Geitner Park, has been reopened to the public. Hickory City Park remains closed due to renovations. Please access the bikeway via Rotary-Geitner Park.

"We appreciate everyone's patience as City staff and tree service contractors have worked diligently to safely remove fallen trees and clear storm debris as quickly and efficiently as possible. The City's mountain bike trails are widely used by our citizens, and we are happy that people can enjoy them once again," said Parks and Recreation Director Mack McLeod.

City staff is currently in the process of chipping a large part of the storm debris; however, this work will not interfere with the use of the bikeway. At this time, the boardwalk, memorial garden, and disc golf course at Hilton Park remain closed for further cleanup.
