Lenoir-Rhyne University is proud to present the third annual LRU 5Kon its main campus in Hickory, on Saturday, April 7 at 8:30 a.m. This exciting event is intended for community members of all ages, and celebrates the bond between LRU and the City of Hickory.
The 5K features prizes for top-finishers, post-race refreshments, live music by singer-songwriter Casey Clark, giveaways, and other offerings from local business vendors.
Participants are welcome to run or walk the course at their own pace. The 5K route will start and finish in the heart of LRU's campus on 7th Street NE, leading participants through the streets adjacent to the University. Early registration is open now through noon on Tuesday, March 27, and includes a T-shirt with the event's vintage LR logo. While LR will strive to provide all 5K participants with a T-shirt, those who do not sign up before the March 27 deadline will not be guaranteed a shirt. Additional T-shirts will be for sale at the event. Event day registration will be held between 7:15 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Please visit lr.edu/5K to register.
LRU is thankful for the support of this year's title sponsor, the University City Commission (UCC). The UCC is aimed at strengthening and broadening the relationship between LR and the City of Hickory. Its board seeks to grow LRU's student body presence and interaction in Hickory, while also increasing the young adult population, enhancing the collegiate atmosphere, and promoting school pride throughout the community.
