HICKORY HOPS BREW FESTIVAL

The Hickory Hops Brew Festival is a brew festival held on Union Square in the middle of April. The annual event, in its seventh year, attracts thousands of people to Downtown to enjoy live music and to sample beer from over 30 different microbreweries.

Hickory Hops will be held Saturday, April 18, 1-7 pm on Union Square.

FARMER'S MARKET

The Farmer's Market is open every Wednesday and Saturday from April 18 through October. This event features local farmers, artisans and other neighbors from the Hickory area.

With over 20 vendors you will find a wide selection of fresh, locally grown produce, potted plants and herbs, cut flowers, honey, preserves, fresh baked goods, hand-made soaps, and much more.

The Farmer's Market opens in April at Hickory Station. Dates TBA.

ART ON THE AVENUE

Art on the Avenue is an annual festival held on the lawn at the S.A.L.T. Block featuring local artists showcasing their talents as well as activities for the whole family. Take time to meet with your favorite artist.

INTERNATIONAL SPRINGFEST

The Hickory Community Relations Commission and The Hickory International Commission hosts an annual International SpringFest on Union Square to celebrate the cultural diversity of our area. There is dancing, exhibitions, international food, music and some crafts from overseas.

International SpringFest is Saturday, May 1 at 10 am on Union Square.

SWINGING UNDER THE STARS - A TRIBUTE TO GLENN MILLER

This annual Memorial Day Weekend event was started by Rick Cline in 2008. Bring your partner to Union Square and dance the night away.

Swinging Under the Stars is Sunday, May 30 at 7 pm on Union Square.

HICKORY ALIVE

Union Square will once again be filled with music, food, and beverages as Hickory Alive! prepares for another memorable season. The Hickory Jaycees and the Hickory Downtown Development Association are pleased to present the weekly concert event during the summer.

The annual free event is held every Friday night in June and July on Union Square and features an array of local musical talent. A talent pre-show will begin at 7pm with the main act running from 7pm until 11pm.

ART CRAWL SERIES

The Art Crawl is held twice a year and features local artists showcasing their talents in downtown businesses. Over 20 businesses hosted artists last year. A map is provided and participants are welcome to browse the artwork, enjoy refreshments and meet with the artists. Artwork is available for sale.

This year, the Art Crawl will be held May 20 and September 16 from 5:30-9 pm in various businesses in Downtown Hickory. Kick-off party is at 5 pm. The May 20 Kick-off party will be hosted by ~julia rush~ Fine Crafts.

HICKORY OKTOBERFEST

Oktoberfest, the most anticipated event in the Unifour area, is in its 25th year. This festival offers a weekend of family entertainment. Two stages will present non-stop musical entertainment. Kids will enjoy the Kidsfest area, offering amusement rides and games for a thrill for all ages. Artisans will be selling such items as beautiful pottery, jewelry, glass, fabrics, woodcrafts, etc. Commercial vendors sell a variety of merchandise ranging from sunglasses to handmade soaps. There are many food vendors located in the Food Court selling a variety of treats, goodies and great food. Oktoberfest also features the Castle of Cans—the Castle of Caring, which features canned food donated for distribution to the needy by area churches, civic organizations, businesses and individuals.

This year, Oktoberfest will be held October 8-10. Check back for schedule.

DOWNTOWN CANDY CRAWL

Join various Downtown businesses for our annual Downtown Candy Crawl. Participating businesses will be handing out treats to kids dressed in their Halloween costume. The Candy Crawl will be October 29 from 4-5 PM at participating businesses. A map will be provided..

Join the Mayor as we kick off the Holiday Season with a holiday tree lighting ceremony. Watch Union Square light up for the Holidays and enjoy some quality holiday shopping.

The Holiday Tree Lighting will be Friday, November 19 at 7 pm on Union Square.

JAYCEE'S HOLIDAY PARADE

Every year, hundreds of people line the streets of Downtown Hickory for the annual Jaycee's Holiday Parade. The lineup always features local high school bands, cartoon characters, local dignitaries, and, of course, Santa.

The Jaycee's Holiday Parade will be Saturday, December 4 at 4 pm.
